Draft of a tract of land situate in the township of Perry, and County of Berks Containing one hundred and sixty-six acres. and Fifty -three perches strict measure. Surveyed for Jacob Hill on the 29th day of April 1870 being parts of two larger tracts of land, one of which contained two hundred acres and allowance. Originally surveyed in pursuance of a ______ granted to Jacob Hill dated the 27th day of March 1739, the other tract contained thirty five acres one hundred forty two perches and allowance originally surveyed in pursuance of a warrant granted to George Stinger stated the 27th day of February 1766. Hill Homestead (foreground), Where many generations of Hills lived. Although still in the family, Milton and Gertrude (Strausser) Hill were the last generation to live and farm here. Homes in the background: (L-R) 1) James and Mae (Kerr) Magdalinos. 2) Home that John L. and Melva V. (Brobst) Hill purchased as a schoolhouse and fixed into a home, where they raised their families and lived the remainder of their days. Currenlty owned and lived in by the family of Brian Mohn. 3) shed and house of Daniel Hill (son of John and Melva). 4) Home of Allen and Anna (Hill) Billig. From this angle appears to be in the woods. She is daughter to John & Melva Hill.
The Hill Homestead. Milt and Gurt were married in 1910. They added the porch some time after they were married, dating this image to be around 1910-20. (The porch was remodeled in the 1950's by John L. Hill with his style of wooden railings). L-R: 'Cass' Catherine Berstler (buried at Zion Moselem Church above Virginville, PA), 'Granny' Gertrude (Strausser) Hill, Morris Dries (boy with St. Bernard dogs), Grampy's (Milton's) father John M. HIll (b. 1855), and 'uncle John' John T. Hill (b. 1893).
