When Ben was sent to Korea with the Air Force, Pat moved back with her parents. She paid them $20.00 a week for expenses. For Christmas 1968, they gave her a plastic lei with her $20.00 bills stapled to it. They saved these for her, knowing she was saving to meet Ben in Hawaii. Pat was so utterly surprised that she was teary eyed.
